There are a lot of different ways you may categorize your tooth pain. If we were to get extremely general, however, then we might break down the details into pain you can clearly identify, pain that you can guess as to why it is showing up, and then pain that’s come out of seemingly nowhere. Depending on the category into which your discomfort falls, you may wonder what you should do in response. Fortunately, the answers are intuitive and easy to memorize.
Unexplainable Pain
If you have no idea why the tooth pain is occurring, this one is very obvious: You’re going to need to come in to see us about the problem. Trying to make guesses and figure it out on your own will not suffice. Schedule a dental visit with us. In the meantime, continue brushing and flossing and rely on over-the-counter pain relievers if necessary.
Discomfort You Can Explain
Let’s say you know why your tooth pain is happening. If you know that it has nothing to do with a disease or damage (maybe you smacked your tooth with your coffee mug on accident but the pain is subsiding) then you may give it time to go away. However, if you can explain it because you know you cracked or broke your tooth, you have a cavity or other problem, or you hurt yourself on accident but the pain is persistent, then come in for either emergency dental care or a regular checkup!
When You Have A Hunch
Think you might know why you’re experiencing tooth pain but cannot really be sure? Guess what we suggest you do? Come in for a visit, of course. We’ll help you solve the problem ASAP!
