What if your braces could be cosmetic instead of metal? With our orthodontic clear aligners, we can offer a way to shift your smile that is practically invisible! In today’s blog, Dr. Robert M. Browne, DDS, talks about how we provide our patients in Prairie Village, KS, with clear aligners!
The Causes of Dental Misalignment
First, let’s talk about dental misalignment. For some, this could occur due to issues in early childhood that impact how your jaw grows or how teeth erupt. Losing baby teeth early, or having them fail to fall out on time, could upset how permanent teeth arrive and lead to poor alignment. Thumb sucking or tongue thrusting at an early age could be a factor too. You could even develop misalignment in the teen and adult years, as tooth loss allows teeth to shift to create an uneven smile. Your wisdom tooth erupting could also upset overall balance. But we can help, offering a cosmetic approach with clear aligners.
Cosmetic Braces
With this option, we do not need metal brackets or wires at all. Instead, we have an alternative that is barely noticeable, and which is also more convenient than metal braces. With this option, we will take digital images of your tribe and experts will use them in a lab setting to design and craft your new aligners, each custom-made for your bite from a BPA-free and clear plastic material. When your series of aligners are ready, you can start your journey to an even and healthy smile!
Correcting Uneven Smiles
How will this option correct your smile? The process is simple. You will wear a set for about 20 to 23 hours per day on average, and do so for about two weeks. Every two weeks, you then switch to the next set in the series and continue the process as your smile is corrected, which for some could take as little as one year! During treatment, your orthodontics will also be removable, so you can take them out before you eat, no worries about altering your diet or items being caught in your orthodontics. Being removable also means a much easier time brushing and flossing, and that you can take them out for special occasions, such as job interviews, first dates, or a graduation or wedding.
