Do you want to see dramatic improvement in the appearance of your smile? If so, then you may want to consider treatment with one or more of our porcelain veneers. In today’s blog, Dr. Robert M. Browne, DDS, talks about how we can boost smile beauty with porcelain veneers.
The Benefits of Receiving Custom Veneers
How do these custom porcelain restorations help boost the appearance of your smile? Each one will be custom-made for your bite, and ensure an appearance that looks great and blends with your smile. When attached, these instantly change the shape and color of the tooth in question. We can use them to mask teeth stains too severe for whitening alone to address, or to even repair minor injuries or add length to worn down teeth. Placement could help fill open gaps between the teeth and also address misshapen structures. For some, we could even correct the appearance of your misalignment, so you have a straighter-looking smile without the need for orthodontics, just our thin and lifelike porcelain veneers.
Creating and Attaching Them
How do we create and then attach these custom cosmetic restorations? To begin, our team will numb the tooth or teeth being treated and then gently remove outer structure from them, making room for your new restorations. We then take images and measurements with digital technology, which we use in a dental lab setting to design and craft your final product. Once your custom veneers are ready, our team will check the fit and then make any necessary adjustments, finally attaching them with a powerful bonding agent, the same we use to affix crowns and bridges to your teeth.
Keeping Them Bright
With a few simple actions, you can help keep them bright and secure for years to come, and protect your natural tooth structures too. We suggest brushing for two minutes when you wake up and then doing the same before you go to bed each evening. You also need to floss every evening before you brush that second time, and try to limit how much sugar and starch is in your diet. A visit for a checkup and cleaning is also helpful, so be sure you schedule one now before the hectic holiday season arrives. You can even use your remaining 2026 dental benefits before they expire at the end of the year!
