Our team can help ensure your treatments are a comfortable experience, and we can do so with a local anesthesia. But won’t that leave you with a lingering numbness following treatment? To help prevent this and ensure you get your feeling back faster, Dr. Robert M. Browne talks about the OraVerse® system! Our team wants to help you avoid slurred speech, drooling, and other issues that occur due to lingering numbness following treatment!
When You Need Local Anesthesia
When do we recommend a local anesthesia for our patients? If you are undergoing a procedure like a filling placement, deep cleaning, or crown placement, we may numb the smile to help ease discomfort during the process. We administer this directly to the areas where treatment will occur to numb them and help you feel comfortable. However, there is often a lingering numbness, and issues with speech and drooling for hours afterward as it takes time for the numbness to completely dissipate. But we can offer a unique treatment to help return feeling to your lips much faster!
OraVerse®
With OraVerse®, once your procedure ends, we will inject a special medication that helps restore feeling to your lips, so you can speak with ease and avoid drooling and discomfort. The numbness can dissipate in as little as one to two hours. The process is fast and comfortable, and helps you return to your normal routine in a much faster time!
Sedation
If you have serious anxiety or are undergoing a more extensive treatment, we may need to offer more than just a local anesthesia. Instead, we could help ensure patient comfort with dental sedation. We can select from nitrous oxide, which is administered through a mask over the nose. The effects can be adjusted easily during treatment and end once the procedure does, so you can drive yourself home if you like!
We also have oral conscious and IV. Oral conscious sedation is given in a pill or liquid form prior to treatment, and IV is administered intravenously. Both offer deeper states of calm with no memory of the procedure, and both could leave you a bit groggy afterward so you will need a ride home.
Our team can help decide if you need a local anesthesia or if you require sedation, and we can help restore feeling to your smile after with the OraVerse® system. If you have any questions about how we ensure patient comfort, then reach out to our team today to learn more and start your treatment journey!
