Did you know that we could offer a cosmetic option for treating your uneven smile? In lieu of relying on braces for correcting crowded, overlapping, or crooked teeth, we could instead use a series of clear aligners. In today’s blog, Dr. Robert M. Browne talks about correct uneven smiles with orthodontic clear aligners.
The Need for an Even Smile
Whether you have a minor case of misalignment or a more severe one, you should consider a visit with our team for treatment. When you have misalignment, this means thoroughly brushing and flossing could be difficult, which increase the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. There could also be stress on your jaw joints, which increases the chances of painful disorders like TMD and even bruxism (teeth grinding). Feeling uncomfortable in social situations is common too, which could negatively impact your quality of life. But we can help, and we can do so without metal braces, instead using orthodontic clear aligners.
Orthodontic Clear Aligners
Our orthodontic clear aligners are custom-made for your bite, based on detailed digital images we take of your bite. In a lab setting, experts will use the images and measurements we take of your smile to design and craft a series of plastic aligners, which fit snugly over your teeth. You will receive a series of them, and wear a set for a two-week period, 20 to 23 hours a day. You repeat the process until you see optimal ruts, which could take as little as a year for some. These can also be removed for added convenience, no need to alter you diet or brush and floss around metal orthodontics. This is a practically invisible way for teens and adults to obtain an even smile!
What About Porcelain Veneers?
For those with very minor cases of misalignment, we could also discuss help with porcelain veneers. These are very thin dental restorations that we attach to the front of your teeth. Once in place, these will reshape the teeth and mask multiple cosmetic imperfections, such as stains and issues with misshapen or damaged teeth. But multiple veneers could also help correct the appearance of your smile, so you have a straighter-looing one, in addition to a brighter one.
