Our Dentures Provide Complete Smiles

When we have tooth loss too severe for a dental bridge, this could mean you need a denture. We can offer our patients full and partial dentures, and even support them with dental implants. In today’s blog, your Prairie Village, KS, dentist talks about how we provide full smiles with our dentures and what options we have available.

Partial Dentures

A partial is meant to address more complex cases of dental misalignment. If you have too many gaps spread out across your smile for a bridge to address, but still have enough natural teeth in place that a full is overkill, then we could provide a partial. Our team will take detailed digital images and measurements of your smile and use them to design and craft a set of partials. The prosthetic will have new teeth designed to fit in the gaps in your smile, all set in an acrylic base that looks like gum tissue. Metal clasps will attach to natural teeth to secure the new teeth in place. This is removable and needs to be taken out for cleaning and soaking, and can last between 5 and 10 years on average.

A Full Prosthetic

A full replaces every tooth on one or both of your arches. We will extract the last few teeth and take detailed digital images and measurements. In a lab setting, we will design a prosthetic that has a complete row of lifelike and durable replacement teeth, all set in an acrylic base. Suction or special adhesives will keep your new teeth in place. As with the partials, these are removable and need routine care. They last about 5 to 10 years before changes to your jaw ridge necessitate replacement.

Support With Dental Implants

What if we could support your dentures with dental implants? We can! This involves inserting multiple dental implant posts to your jaw, which act as new roots and help preserve your jawbone, so your new teeth can stay in place for decades or even a lifetime. Your full or partial will be fixed in place, no need to remove them for soaking and they also never slip when you eat or speak. If you have any questions about how our team will secure a new set of teeth, then contact our team today. A visit now is a chance to use your 2024 dental insurance benefits before they expire at the end of the year.
