Boosting Smile Beauty With Lumineers®

When you have multiple cosmetic imperfections with the appearance of your smile, we can often treat them all at once! With Lumineers®, we have an alternative to porcelain veneers that look natural and preserve your tooth structure. In today’s blog, your Prairie Village, KS, dentist discuss the benefits of our custom Lumineers®.

The Difference Between Veneers and Lumineers®

Both are thin shells or porcelain used to correct multiple cosmetic issues all at once. But there are some key differences. With porcelain veneers, we need to remove a thin layer of outer enamel to make room for the new restorations. This makes room for them and ensure they blend better with the rest of your smile, while also preserving your overall bite balance. However, Lumineers® are much thinner, and require very little enamel to be removed, preserving more of your natural tooth structure. Which means we require less time for placement too. Essentially, this is a less invasive and thinner version of traditional veneers, one that can still offer a smile makeover.

The Cosmetic Benefits

When we attach the Lumineers® to the smile, our team will be able to mask permanent teeth stains that might otherwise resist traditional teeth whitening. In addition, we will be able to correct misshapen teeth, lengthen worn down structures caused by bruxism, and even correct minor damage, such as chips or cracks. Placement could also address unsightly gaps between the teeth, and help correct the appearance of minor misalignment, so you have a straighter-looking smile in one visit! As you can see, this can offer many of the same benefits as veneers, without the need to lose as much tooth structure.

The Placement Process

How do we place them? We will take detailed images and measurements of your teeth and use them to create a 3D impression, one that enables us to design and craft custom restorations for your smile. We then remove a very thin lair of enamel to make room for them, or in some cases we may not need to remove any structure. The completed restorations are then attached to the teeth with a powerful bonding agent, and can allow your new restorations to remain in place for years to come, so you can smile with confidence. We can also whiten your teeth to ensure the finished product matches your brightest smile. if you have any questions about our cosmetic treatments options, including our custom Lumineers®, then contact our team today to learn more.
