OraVerse®

Reversing the Effects of Sedation

We often recommend a local anesthetic as a means of ensuring that patients remain comfortable during a procedure. No matter how conservative or intensive a dental procedure may be, we want patients to enjoy a calm and comfortable experience. However, sometimes the effects of the anesthetic linger a little too long. Fortunately, we can use the innovative OraVerse® system to reverse numbness.

What is OraVerse?

This is a system designed to help reverse the effects of local anesthesia following a dental procedure. Typically, numbness can last for between two and hour fours after a procedure. Patients may also experience uncomfortable swelling as well. However, this treatment is administered to stop numbness in the upper and/or lower lips, often in as little as one to two hours. The treatment is recommended for adults and the doctor will take your medical history and current health into account before recommending OraVerse.

How Does It Work?

Once your dental procedure is over, your doctor will administer OraVerse (phentolamine mesylate) in the form of an injection. Gradually, you will regain feeling and control of your lips. You don’t have to worry about slurred speech, drooling, or discomfort as a result of the lingering effects of anesthesia anymore. Instead, we can help return you to normal in a short period.
