Keeping Smiles Strong With A Ultrasonic Scaling

To help remove the harmful layers of plaque and tartar from your teeth, we can use an ultrasonic scaling device. The technology provides removal with precision, and can help protect your smile from issues like gum disease. In today’s blog, Dr. Robert M. Browne talks about keeping smiles strong with an ultrasonic scaling device, removing harmful buildup and preventing major concerns!

The Ultrasonic Scaling Device

The device is used to aid in our dental cleanings, whether we are offering a traditional one to prevent poor oral health, or a scaling and root planing to reverse gingivitis and manage gum disease. The appliance uses gentle vibrations to help knock loose and remove plaque and tartar from the surfaces of your smile. This makes a thorough cleaning a comfortable and effective process, one that is enjoyable for you and your kids!

Dental Cleaning

We recommend a dental cleaning for kids and adults alike every six months, so we can remove harmful plaque and tartar buildup before these layers lead to tooth decay or gum disease. This process also helps fight bad breath and teeth stains! First, we will use the ultrasonic scaling device to remove the plaque and tartar. We then follow this with a manual pick, which we can remove the stubborn bits of tartar that may remain along the gum line. Once we complete this step, we will polish the teeth to make it more difficult for plaque and tartar to accumulate on the teeth. This also helps keep your smile bright! If you have not had a visit since 2026 started, now is the perfect time. If you have kids, a visit now means the next one will happen during winter break, so they can attend routine checkups and cleanings without missing school.

Deep Cleaning

If you have gingivitis or the early stages of gum disease, then we could help with a procedure known as a deep cleaning, or a scaling and root planing. We use the same ultrasonic scaling device, but this time we also remove buildup from the roots and from under the gums. This can reverse gingivitis and make gum disease manageable with preventive care moving forward, such as traditional plaque removal every three to four months.
