Cosmetic dentistry can help your smile look great. But did you know that we can offer treatment in only one visit? With dental bonding and contouring, we can offer same-day cosmetic treatment to reshape teeth and mask imperfections. In today’s blog, Dr. Robert M. Browne talks about helping smiles with bonding and contouring.
Your Initial Cosmetic Consultation
To get started, contact our team for a cosmetic consultation. We will talk to you about your smile and discuss the issues you want to see corrected. Our team then looks closely at your smile with digital imaging to assess the cause and severity of your cosmetic concerns, so we can choose the right treatment option. If you have just teeth stains, we could brighten your smile with teeth whitening. But if you have more than one esthetic issue, including concerns with the shape of them, we could offer same-day treatment with dental bonding and contouring.
Dental Bonding
The bonding procedure will employ the same composite resin that we use to create lifelike dental fillings. Our team numbs the tooth or teeth being treated, so we can gently clean and etch the outer surface. Our team then shades the composite resin to ensure it blends with your tooth and applies this in several layers. As the composite resin cures under lights, we will gently shape the tooth. The final step is to polish the tooth for a brighter appearance.
With the bonding procedure, we can mask permanent teeth stains that could otherwise resist your whitening procedures. In addition, we could repair minor chips and cracks to prevent tooth decay and improve smile beauty. Our team can address misshapen teeth too and even fill in gaps between the teeth. The process could also add length to worn down teeth, all in only one visit!
Dental Contouring
Our team can contour the teeth too. With this option, we correct minor esthetic issues in one visit without adding new material to the teeth. Our team will gently sand and buff the outer structure to smooth away any pits, grooves, and rough patches. In addition, we can dull portions that are sharp, jagged, or pointed. The contouring procedure can also address overly large teeth and even correct the appearance of a chipped tooth. We could even combine both procedures in a single visit!
