When you see our team for treatment, or just for a checkup, we will always take time to closely examine your smile. To ensure a diagnosis with precision and accuracy, we will employ a digital alternative to traditional x-rays. In today’s blog, your Prairie Village, KS, dentist talks about how we conduct a diagnosis with digital x-rays!
The Digital X-Ray System
While traditional x-rays are effective, we are proud to offer a digital alternative, which provides a number of benefits for our patients. First, we can gather the x-ray images of your bite without the need for those uncomfortable bitewings. The process only takes a few seconds, and the system itself uses up to 90% less radiation than traditional imaging. The images we obtain are very clear and high-definition, allowing us to zoom in on particular areas that need examination, and make a diagnosis with better precision and accuracy. Along with a diagnosis, this enables us to plan treatments too, such as tooth extraction and dental implant placement, to ensure we avoid contact with blood vessels, nerve tissues, and sinus cavities.
Chairside Monitors
When we gather your digital x-ray images, they do not need to be developed in harsh chemicals, instead they are available instantly on a chairside monitor. This means a shorter overall time, and that we can instantly walk you through the diagnostic process, so you better understand the state of your smile and the treatments we may recommend. If you need to see a specialist for any treatment, we can easily transmit these images to them as well, offering better convenience too.
When to See Us
Now that you understand the benefits of taking a digital approach to x-rays, when do you need to have these done? When we see a patient for the first time, we will often take images to assess the state of their oral health and find out if care is needed. We may then periodically at various visits do follow-up ones to monitor your overall oral health and treatment progress. On average, we would like to see you and your family every six months, so we can identify your smiles and keep them healthy and strong.
If you have any questions about how we use diagnostic technology to examine and diagnose your smile, or if you would like to schedule a visit for yourself or a member of your family, then please reach out to our team today. We look forward to seeing you and offering care!
